LinenMaster - Floor Manager Scale Workstation Requirements

Computer

• PC running Windows 10 or higher
  • Internet connection
    • Connects to your Local Area Network via Cat5 wiring.
    • A wireless connection is not recommended for stable, reliable operations at the scales
  • The latest Microsoft Windows free updates
  • Windows .NET Framework 4.0 full version with latest updates
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable with latest updates
  • A serial port or USB port for scale connection.  Many “home” computers no longer come with a serial port, but “business” computers can usually be ordered with one.
    •  A SERIAL PORT is highly recommended.  The USB port will require a USB to Serial Cable converter.  These converters often cause a problem.

Monitor
Any monitor will work, but LinenMaster Floor Manager is designed to work best with a touch screen monitor.  This helps the operator keep focus on the information being displayed and reduces keying mistakes.  The keyboard and mouse can be stored out of the way in a drawer.

• Recommend 17” touch screen display at minimum
  • Display supports 1024 x 768

Bar Code Scanner
A bar code scanner is used to enter data quickly and accurately.  Most 1D handheld bar code readers will work, but a wireless industrial model is recommended.

Laser Printer (Shipping/Clean Station Only)
You will want a trouble-free printer with a duty-cycle that keeps your toner costs down. Low duty-cycle printers will increase maintenance costs.  Always keep an extra toner cartridge on hand and accessible to production.

• The printer does not need a network card, as it can be connected directly to the computer via USB.

Other Recommendations
Scale with serial connection is preferred. The scale needs to be capable of sending a continuous feed of the Gross Weight and a Status indicating motion over a serial DB9 connector or USB cable.
UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) for Computer, Bar Code Scanner, Monitor and Electronic Scale Head.  The battery back-up protects your hardware from power surges and keeps things running even if the power flickers on and off.
Tool Retractor/Balancer This keeps the barcode scanner in easy reach and protects it from damage.
